At Messiah Lutheran Church, we follow the traditional liturgy of the Lutheran Church. The order of service we use every week is Divine Service Setting Three from Lutheran Service Book. We make full use of this beautiful and reverent service along with the responsive chants included with it.

Our Wednesday evening services follow an abbreviated order of service and are typically under one hour.

Messiah Lutheran Church has a beautiful 10 rank organ at the front of the sanctuary. Our organists make full use of the organ while focusing on supporting congregational singing during the hymns. The organ received repairs in 2025 to return it to its full majesty.

Along with the reading of the Bible and singing hymns, the Sacraments are one of the main parts of the service. The Lord’s Supper is offered to members of our congregation every second and fourth Sunday. Visitors are asked to speak to the pastor before service.

In the Lord’s Supper we believe that our Lord is truly present with us in, with, and under the bread and the wine and that all who receive this bread and wine receive the body and blood of Christ. For this reason, we pay Christ appropriate honor and repsect while receiving this mystical sacrament through the singing of hymns and kneeling.

Messiah sings a diverse range of hymns, with a focus on the traditional Lutheran chorales and hymnody. Some favorites include “A Mighty Fortress is our God,” “Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence,” and “Christ Jesus Lay in Death’s Strong Bands.”

Sermons at Messiah are biblical and doctrinal expositions of the Scripture readings. Our pastor aims to make the sermons instructive and applicable to your everyday life. While expositing the text for its doctrine and life applications, our sermons never lose sight of the Gospel of Christ and His work of salvation for us. The sermons are typically 20-30 minutes and follow the historic one-year series of readings.
